Note: The
episodes’ official numbering includes skipped numbers for pre-emptions, in
accordance with their numbering system (so that one could look at the number of
an episode and know what day of the week it aired on). I have elected to number
the episodes by what episode it actually is (this is the 113th episode, but the
official number is 115), but I will note the official numbering also.
My name is Victoria Winters. I came to this house with the hope of finding out about my past life. Instead, my life was nearly taken away from me. And the man who tried to kill me is hiding in the one place no one would think to look—and he’s being protected by one who does not suspect his treachery.

David brings food to Matthew. He
denies being frightened when Matthew startles him. Matthew says he knows
fright, having seen it on the faces of men and women—faces he wishes he could
forget. (It makes you wonder if Bill was his first victim.)
Vicki tells Liz about her
plans for the weekend in Bangor.
She hopes she can becomes less muddled about everything that’s happened.
And, of course, she’s going to spend some time with Frank.

Matthew thanks David for the
food and advises him to play dumb, not let people know how smart he is.
Liz advises Vicki not to live
in the past, using herself as a negative example.
Liz wonders where David is,
and Vicki says she’ll go out and look for him. (Isn’t that how you got in
trouble before, Vicki?)
David says Matthew could stay
hiding there for years. No one ever comes to the old house. Matthew knows a
secret about this old house, one David doesn’t know—yet.
They hear Vicki calling. She
comes in and finds David, who says he was looking for ghosts. Vicki drops her
wallet, but doesn’t notice.
David says there’s an army of
rats in the house. Vicki says they have to go back. She has a bus to Bangor to
catch.
Liz calls the sheriff to see
whether there’s been any word about Matthew.
Liz wants to talk to him about
not doing what he’s told and has him apologize to Vicki for the time she had to
spend looking for him.
David wants to know how you
know who to be loyal to. Liz says those who love you.
She says he should be loyal to his father before anyone else. David says he’d rather be loyal to somebody else.

Vicki looks for her wallet.
Liz wonders who David will be
loyal to. David doesn’t say, but Liz tells him people who are loyal should
trust each other and shouldn’t have secrets.
Vicki goes back to the old
house to look.
“Lose something?” Matthew
says, coming out with her wallet. (Now, Matthew could have left her wallet for
her to find and stayed hidden, if he really didn’t want to hurt anyone else.)
